I wasn’t nervous, per se, merely curious. I highly doubted there was anything that this beautiful girl could tell me that had the power to drive me away. Even when she had just basically called me shallow and or married, I still had feelings for her that defied logical sense and reasoning after only knowing her for a few months.

The last eight or so weeks had been a whirlwind of slapstick and whimsical text flirting, hot and heavy fucking, and some of the best months of my life. My day job was getting close to being my only job, with only a few months left of schooling, and my night job had taken off in the financial field because of the extra pep in my step. I had found a stunning woman, and I was falling for her.

Damn. I really was falling for this girl and I was just now realizing it as she was about to divulge some crazy secret. I wasn’t sure if my heart was prepared for this secret to be detrimental. I hadn’t opened myself up to someone in so long that if shit did end up going sideways, I knew it would take me quite a while to really get over it.

When Lexi turned around and nervously smiled at me, I knew what I needed to do. Placing both of my palms on the side of her face, I bent down and placed a feather light kiss on her forehead.

“There is nothing you can say to scare me away right now, Lexi. If this is your pride and joy, then I know the only thing I’m going to feel is absolute happiness with whatever you show me.”

I could see the water in her eyes once more, and I kissed each one to drive my point home.

“Why are you so awesome?” She asked.

“Because I’ve been hanging around you for so long,” I smiled, placing my hands on her shoulders and turning her around to face the door. “Now, show me what has you so embarrassed to tell me.”

I felt her shoulders heave as she placed her hand on the doorknob. “Brace yourself.”

Man. She was almost making me a bit nervous.

When the door opened on the dark room, I wasn’t sure what I was expecting and when she turned the light on, the room was completely covered from floor to ceiling with bookshelves and boxes. I definitely hadn’t been expecting that, and both my curiosity and confusion were at top peaks.

“I--uh. I don’t get it,” I whispered, looking around. The room was almost as big as her Master bedroom, and with the exception of Morticia’s cat tower, there was nothing else in here but books. Lexi didn’t speak so I took it upon myself to walk around and figure out the mystery she had laid out in front of me.

I walked up to a stack of boxes and picked up a book. There seemed to be about a hundred of the same one.

“Jacked Up: Sexy Mechanics Book One by Kitty Lane,” I whispered out loud before setting it down and heading over to another box.
